Safe sampling of toxic media
Disposable samplers in quality control
When sampling hazardous and aggressive media, the sampler must ensure that a representative sample is taken safely. Disposable samplers, such as the MicroDispo, are the perfect solution: The different variants are characterized by easy handling and sterile production. Specially developed for demanding sampling, granulates, powders, viscous media or liquids can be professionally removed - this guarantees safety in quality control and the purity of the sample.
Working with toxic media
Working with toxic media always means a certain risk potential for companies in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry as well as in the food & beverage and cosmetics sectors. This exists both in the production and processing of these media and in quality control. Particularly in the course of sampling, utmost caution is required, as hazardous and aggressive media can endanger the environment and the workers.
Appropriate occupational safety measures are essential during the entire process of sampling - from the removal of the medium to the subsequent cleaning of the sampler. In addition to the trained worker, the suitable sampler is decisive. This must not only guarantee safe sampling, but also the purity of the sample. This is because in order to obtain a reliable statement about product quality during analysis, the sample must be free of impurities or contamination.
MicroDispo offers security
The MicroDispo from Bürkle is especially developed for the demanding sampling. The disposable sampler with the elongated shape is suitable for the safe and clean removal of flowable powder and small grained bulk material. It allows targeted samples to be taken from various depths directly from bags or containers without the user coming into contact with the medium.
The sampler has a diameter of 21 mm and a small tip with a collection volume of 10 ml. It is available in 500 mm or 1000 mm length. For sampling, the lance is simply guided to the desired point in the medium and the tip is opened by means of a handle - depending on the version, depths of about 1 meter are possible. The sample flows in and the tip can be closed again by pulling the handle. The disposable sampler is then withdrawn from the medium and the sample is filled into a sample container. The closed tip secures the sample taken - there is no risk to the user from spilling the toxic medium or from contamination of the sample by particles from the environment.
The MicroDispo consists of HDPE and is characterized by its high chemical resistance. HDPE is inert to many substances and prevents the material of the sampler from reacting with other substances or components from dissolving out of it. This is important so that the respective medium and the sample taken are not contaminated by material components.
Produced, assembled, individually packaged and optionally gamma-radiation sterilized in a clean room, the disposable sampler can be used immediately and disposed of quickly and easily after use - the purity of the sample is ensured because the particle-free and sterile properties completely rule out the possibility of contamination or contamination.
Cleaning not required for disposable
When using the disposable sampler, the subsequent cleaning process is also unnecessary. This is a decisive advantage over conventional reusable samplers, as cleaning is often time-consuming: the sampler may first have to be disassembled, cleaned with highly effective cleaning agents and freed of residues, and then possibly autoclaved before it can be dried and reassembled. This is very cost-intensive and takes up a lot of working time. Dangerous and aggressive media, which may still be greasy or strongly adhesive, make cleaning even more difficult, as they can only be removed with great effort and under appropriate occupational safety measures.
Furthermore, the cleaning process must be validated by reusable samplers. Depending on the number of copies, this may require complex work steps. Some regulations even completely exclude the use of reusable samplers if their particle-free and sterile condition cannot be guaranteed after cleaning. Validation of the cleaning process is also not necessary when disposable samplers are used.
Sampling of different media
With the brands LaboPlast® and SteriPlast® Bürkle offers a wide range of disposable samplers that enable the professional sampling of granulates, powders, viscous media or liquids. The EU food and FDA approvals distinguish the high quality of the disposable samplers. The different versions are suitable for target point, all-shift and cross-sectional samples as well as for taking small and large sample quantities. The sampler can thus be precisely adapted to the respective conditions and requirements of sampling. This guarantees the safe taking of a representative sample.
